International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day-March 8th

What is International Women’s Day?

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th of every year. It is an occasion marked by women’s groups around the world. This date is also
commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday. When women all over the world, often divided by national
boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, and political differences, come together to celebrate their day, they can look back to a
tradition that represents at least nine decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace, and development. Everyone of us has at least one woman to be
thankful with. And since women are the majority on Earth, they do deserve a big celebration, especially on March 8th: International Women’s Day.

How You Can Celebrate International Women’s Day

1.) Think about the women you would like to thank and why. Some common examples are: mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, girlfriends, wives,
nieces, and teachers, etc.

2.) Tell the women in your life why they are important to you. It don’t have to say gushy things, even a simple “Thank you” will do. If you want to
explain more into detail of why the women are important to you, you can.

3.) Do something for an important woman in your life. You can throw a celebration or a party for the woman/women that are important to you. Even simple
gestures work wonders.

4.) Think about a nice gift. It can be anything from chocolates, a date with your girlfriend or spouse, something you made for her, etc. It depends on
if it’s your mother, girlfriend or spouse, friend, someone you look up to, etc.

5.) Write something about International Women’s Day. You could make a blog post announcing that it is International Woman’s Day. You could write poems,
write a song, etc. Let people know that you care. Some people may not be aware of International Women’s Day or what it is. Spread the word about this
important holiday.

6.) Give money to charity. A charity that is about or for women is a great way to give to charity, such as Breast Cancer Awareness.
