Because I am tired of keeping quiet.
Because I will not conform.
Because I don’t want to be alone.
Because I need and deserve support.
Because I need to relate to someone!
Because I need and deserve healthy relationships with other girls. (read: non- jealous, open, sincere relationships).
Because I need support from other girls like me
Because I need to learn from girls who are radically different from me.
Because I will not keep quiet.
Because I am tired of dealing with sexism, our patriarchal society, and misogyny by myself.
Because I need recognition for my talents, the lack of recognition is suffocating them. It’s killing me.
Because I need an outlet for my creativity.
Because I need encouragement sometimes.
Because I want to encourage others.
Because I need to be criticized sometimes too.
Because I’m tired of being ostracized for being opinionated and unapologetic.
Because I want to make noise, and yell and shout and fuck things up.
Because I want to save others from a sexist, and misogynistic media.
Because I want to make a difference.
Because I want little girls to grow up loving their body, not hating it.
Because I do not want to see more girls die at their own hands because they are depressed and alone. I want to help them. I want to be there.
Because I’m tired of censoring myself.
Because I need my issues addressed.
Because Sometimes…I need a hug and its hard to admit that to a world who’s just waiting for you to fall down and fail.
Because I’m tired of fighting by myself. I need back-up.
Because I need love.
Because I believe in something.
Because I deserve this.
Because I need help.
Because I want to riot.
Because I want to change things.
Because I will yell and shout and scream and cuss and fuck shit up.

Because I love riot grrrl.

MY COMMENTS ON THIS: I have to totally agree with Angela. These are some pretty awesome reasons she chose riot grrrl, I think I need to think of my own list of reasons. In the future, I shall do this.
